A throwback picture of fishes frozen in a wall of ice in the midair reappeared on social media and became viral.
These frozen fish were spotted back in 2015 at Lake Andes National Wildlife Refuge in South Dakota, and was reposted by USFWS National Wildlife Refuge System on their Facebook page.
The lake level was low due to drought and oxygen levels were depleted leading to the death of most fish in the lake. They floated to the top of the lake and then froze.
The ice then expanded and buckled, pushing the frozen fish for all to see. (Photo by Kelly Prehelm)
